The yellow, classical building near Victoria Park was built in 1877, which was sponsored by James and Edith Peake, and built by W.C. Harris. Harris). W.C. Harris was a 19th-century Canada architect known for designing and building Victorian-style houses. He has a significant influence in architectural design while the Peakes enjoyed a high reputation as successful real estate businessmen and social activists at the time.

The Beaconsfield Historical Museum is one of Charlottetown's most elegant residences. Built with the highest quality materials and workmanship, equipped with all the latest amenities of the time, it embodies Victorian architecture and luxury, representing the success and social status of the Peakes, who died after living in this villa for more than 30 years due to health reasons. Subsequently, the house has changed hands and repaired several times, but it still retains many of its original features.

The museum opened to the public in 1973 and is available all year round with guided tours in Chinese (Mandarin) every Saturday in August.
