Opened in 1964 in downtown Charlottetown, the Commonwealth Arts Centre was built on the traditional territory of the Meekmaq, the First Nations people of Canada. It is an important cultural and arts venue. There are two theatres, one art gallery, and a full range of conference and catering facilities. An open-air performance venue can be used to organize celebrations and provide ample space for the school's arts education programs to be showcased.

The Federal Arts Centre aims to build a platform for learning and understanding of Canada's diverse cultures through collaboration and friendly exchanges with First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists and storytellers from across the country.

The Commonwealth Arts Centre's galleries are dedicated to promoting and showcasing the work of Canada artists and have a permanent collection of more than 17,000 important contemporary art works and documents, and organize approximately 12 exhibitions of paintings, drawings, prints, photography, sculptures, and digital artworks in different styles each year.

Every year, the Commonwealth Arts Centre's theatre hosts a variety of arts events performed by world-class artists, including music, dance, comedy etc., providing a high-quality cultural experience for Charlottetown residents and tourists.

The Federal Arts Centre is open year-round and is the best place and the must-see to enjoy Canada's visual and performing arts.
